The mission of the Trans-Atlantic Maroon Connection Project is to promote face-to-face cultural exchange between the descendants of the original Trelawny Town Maroons, including oral histories, music, and herbal medicine. This blog chronicles the journey of two Maroons from Flagstaff, Jamaica on their quest to document the history of the descendants of the Trelawny Town Maroons in Jamaica and Sierra Leone.

Mr. Kenute "Blood" Cameron, 63, has been involved in researching Maroon history and culture for more than 30 years and is a is a vocal proponent of Maroon unity. Mr. Cameron is a former professional cricket player, farmer, musician and music producer and is currently active member of the Cockpit Country Local Forest Management Committee (CCLFMC) and the Cockpit Country Artisans Cooperative.

Miss Nicole Ferguson, 25, is an active member of the Cockpit Country Local Forest Management Committee (CCLFMC), through which she has received extensive training on Maroon history and culture.
